So what is the Icon of the Seas, and what cruise line does she belong to?
The Icon of the Seas was christened on 23rd January 2024 as Royal Caribbeans world’s largest cruise ship, entering service from 27th January 2024 out of the port of Miami in the US.
The first ship in Royal Caribbeans new Icon-class fleet of ships. Currently, Icon of the seas is sailing year-round trips from Miami, Florida to Eastern and Western Caribbean destinations including, Perfect Day at CocoCay, the Bahamas, Cozumel in Mexico, Philipsburg in St Maarten and Basseterre, St Kitts.
Facts and figures
Weighing in at a whopping 248,663 gross tonnes (GT), and measuring 365 metres long (that’s 1967 feet) the equivalent to almost 6 football pitches in length. The Icon of the Seas is sure to turn heads in port.
She boasts a maximum capacity of 7,600, or 5,610 passengers at double occupancy with 2,350 crew spanning a total of 20 decks.
Icon’s sister ship, Star of the Seas is due to debut in 2025 along with another ship on order for 2026.
Steel-cutting for the Icon of the Seas, began back in June 2021.
Icon of the Seas has a total of 2,805 staterooms with 28 different types of accommodation, ranging from standard rooms to luxurious suites. With the family, infinite ocean view balconies offering accommodation for up to six guests.
Dining and bars onboard
Boasting over 40 dining venues and bars onboard, guests will be spoiled for choice.
It’s safe to say, Icon will be able to satisfy even the fussiest of guests (or in my case toddler).

Entertainment onboard
Icon of the Seas offers countless entertainment options onboard.
Bringing the new family friendly AquaTheatre to the sea, an aqua action entertainment show production.
Royal Caribbeans, Royal Theatre offers two main productions along with hosting a variety of other entertainment whilst onboard.
There are a total of seven pools throughout the Icon of the Seas.
Is Icon of the Seas a family friendly ship?
As a whole, Royal Caribbean are well known for their family friendly ships and the Icon of the Seas does not disappoint on this front.
Adventure Ocean Babies, Royal Caribbeans baby and toddler programme onboard offers fun, quiet time and naps for babies from 6 months old to 36 months of age.
Whilst Adventure Ocean offers entertainment to children from 3 to 17 years olds, with separate areas for 3 to 5 year olds and 6 to 12 year olds. Plus the teens aged 13 to 17 have access to Social 020.
Unfortunately we as a family don’t have any cruises lined up on the Icon of the seas, but we are most definitely on the lookout for a good deal onboard.
